Town Poem
There is a small little town down South
Bluebell, Alabama, they call it
Stories, tales have been said
About the lady living there
They say she is a witch
She threatens kids everyday
No one dares to walk in front of her house
For fear that she might attack
You may think this town is quiet
But there is gossip everywhere
If you say something,
The whole town hears it by sundown
Kids stay up past midnight
Playing on the unpaved street
Hide and seek behind the cars
Or imaginative stories they make up on the spot
There is a “hangout place” down the street
The corner store that everyone loves
A drunk man would walk down the street from the store
But no harm was done to anyone
There is nothing to be afraid of
Everyone has each other’s backs
If you need a cup of sugar
Your neighbor will gladly give it to you
Although people may talk about each other
In times of trouble they are always there to help
There is not one person that wouldn’t be there for you
Well, maybe the old lady that they say is a witch
There is a small little town down South
Bluebell, Alabama, they call it
Stories, tales have been said
About the lady living there
They say she is a witch
She threatens kids everyday
No one dares to walk in front of her house
